"All-Comers" Summer Swim Challenge 2008
Test your swimming speed and technique against swimmers of all ages, abilities and training levels in a series of summer fun swim races.
For 5 consecutive Sundays, swimmers may participate in an "all-comers" style swim meet. Just show up, sign up and swim. This is an "old school" event. No starting blocks. Only racing speed matters.
Each event will cost $1.00 per swim, in addition to the Storrs Pond pool entrance fee of $5 for adults and $3 for children. Younger swimmers (12 and under) will receive prizes for their efforts, older swimmers will receive the personal pleasure of a race well swum.
Events, beginning at 5:30 pm:
- 25, 50, 100, 200 Freestyle
- 25, 50, 100 Backstroke
- 25, 50, 100 Breaststroke
- 25, 50, 100 Butterfly
- 100, 200 IM
- 50 Freestyle kick with board
Swimmers and heats will be loosely organized by age and can participate in a maximum of two events. Lanes will be open for warm up prior to the events subject to open swim use of the lanes and diving boards. We reserve the right to limit the meet to two hours in length.
