Storrs Pond Recreation Area offers four hard-surface tennis courts for visitors to use.
(tennis rackets and balls are available to borrow from the SPRA office)
Registration for 2025 summer tennis programs at Storrs Pond will open on March 1st. Morning lessons 4-10 yr old, USTA under 10 programs, Afternoon Jr Camp (ages 9-15) will open for online registration at StorrsPond.org. Storrs Pond Tennis hosts a number of teams for men and women USTA levels 3.0 – 5.0. CTA membership is required.
Our goal is to make the tennis courts at Storrs Pond a great place for Upper Valley kids to spend their summer. We have programs for all ages and abilities and want to make sure kids learn sound tennis skills, develop a love of the game and enjoy time on the courts with their friends and families.
2025 Doubles with a Pro sign-ups will be taken a week in advance and by email or phone only. This will allow more new players to participate. thank you for understanding.
2025 HIGHLIGHTS
- Morning Session 8 – 9am (One-hour introduction to tennis for beginners ages 4-10 years old)
- Morning Junior Tennis Camp (10 and Under): Monday – Friday from 9:00 am – 11:00 am
- Afternoon Junior Tennis Camp (9 to 15 years old): Monday – Friday from 2:00 pm – 5:00 pm
- Junior Round Robin: Every Saturday from 10:00 am – 2:00 pm with a cookout!
- Monday and Friday: Doubles with a Pro: 5:30 pm – 7:00 pm

- Morning Sessions:
An introduction to the game of tennis that is just right for young children and beginning players. Classes are Monday to Thursday for one hour. 8:00 am – 9:00 am for 4 – 10 year olds. Students will learn basic strokes and tennis skills through age-appropriate drills and games. The USTA 10 and Under Tennis Method will be used for players 10 and under.

- Morning Junior Tennis Camp (10 And Under):
For younger players who want to improve their game. Camps will utilize the USTA 10 and Under format with short courts and soft balls. Kids will focus on skill development and match play with an emphasis on fun that will foster success and a love of the game. Camp runs 9:00 am to 11:00 am, Monday to Friday. Please contact Tennis Director (Billy Pontious) to arrange for a camp private lesson.

Take your game to the next level and have an awesome time! Storrs Pond Junior Tennis Camp runs Monday to Friday from 2:00 pm – 5:00 pm. Monday to Thursday focus on skill development, and Friday players travel to Quechee and other Upper Valley clubs for match practice. Join us Saturdays from 10:00 am – 2:00 pm for round robin match play and a cookout! Great way to improve your game and spend time with friends. Cost is $10 for the day. Ages 8 – 16. - Doubles with a Pro:
Open to Adult players 3.0 and above. Each week, three players are grouped by level on each of our four courts, and will receive subtle instruction during play with a pro. The focus will be on doubles strategy from 5:30 -7:00 pm on Mondays and Fridays.
There will be an invitation emailed each Saturday for the coming week. Please contact Storrstennis@gmail.com to be included on the email list. You will be able to request Monday, Friday, or both days. You will receive a confirmation email on Sunday. This will be repeated for each week. Storrs Pond hosts several men’s and women’s CTA teams. The teams practice weekly and play weekly matches against local teams on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from mid-May until early August. At the end of the season, there will be a tournament and celebration at Quechee Club. Rain Date Policy
If any program sessions are rained out during the week, we will make up that day during future sessions. If more than one day needs to be made up, you may choose another day in a future session. Please let us know in advance those days to be used for make-ups.

Billy Pontious
Billy Pontious has been the Director of Storrs Pond Tennis for over 20 years. His friendly style and strong tennis skills are recognized throughout the Upper Valley. He has been the coach of both the Hanover High School Girls Varsity team (1997-2002). Billy is a USPTA Certified Developmental Coach.
